The actress worked as a wedding planner before pursuing her childhood dream of acting, making her debut with the 2016 web drama “72 Seconds.” At the time, she did not have an agency and went there by bus, taking her own clothes. Now the series is gaining popularity on YouTube where people are scrambling to see Go Min Si’s debut in the industry.
Most recently, Go Min Si starred in KBS’s “Youth of May”, a romantic drama about nurse Kim Myung Hee (Go Min Si) and medical student Hwang Hee Tae (Lee Do Hyun) falling in love with amid the swirling events of May 1980, a historically significant period in South Korea.
Go Min Si explained his choice to appear in the drama, sharing, âAlthough it is a love affair between a man and a woman, the events that occur when these people are placed in a historical setting were so shocking. . Regardless of its success, I thought a drama like this had to be produced. The advantage of being an actor is that we positively influence others through our work and even when I’m no longer in this world, the project remains. Productions like this are valuable enough to stand the test of time, and I was proud to be a part of it. “
The star recently donated 10 million won (approximately $ 8,870) to the May 18 Memorial Foundation for the Gwangju Uprising in May 1980. She commented, âWhen I saw articles about others celebrities who donated, I wanted to be like them. Rather than doing it later when I was earning a lot of money, I wanted to give as much as I could at my age right now. I was going to keep it a secret, but the foundation wanted to publish the news of the donation in Gwangju’s newspaper. I had no idea it would become so widely known.
The four main cast of “Youth of May” are young and early in their careers, and the drama was also the director’s first job. Go Min Si shared, âIt was a situation where there were no obvious positive factors. There were no big stars and the budget was small. However, we have come together and lived each day diligently. If I can say this, Lee Do Hyun, who performed in front of me, did so well and worked so hard that I was jealous. The same goes for all staff.
In 2016, Go Min Si wrote and produced his own independent short film “Parallel Novel”, winning the Grand Prix at the 4th SNS 3-Minute Film Festival. The film tells the story of a man who meets a woman who acts exactly like the novel he is writing. In the end, it becomes the opposite. About this movie, Go Min Si shared, “I told the story of two people meeting on parallel lines with the thought:” In a parallel world, wouldn’t there be another me somewhere? part who works actively as an actress unlike my current self? ‘â
She also expressed her desire to continue making films. Go Min Si remarked, âJust like Moon So Ri, I want to promote as an actress and produce witty and inspiring films. I especially think it would be nice if he captured a societal point of view.
Continuing on the views, Go Min Si discussed his upcoming movie starring Kim Hye Soo, Yum Jung Ah, and Jo In Sung. She had explained that she enjoyed learning from their acting perspectives, sharing, âI want to be an open person. Someone who can see a lot of different points of view rather than having just one point of view. If you flip it over and look at it from the bottom and combine all of these different points of view, then I’m sure you would have an entirely different perspective.
Next, alongside Jun Ji Hyun and Joo Ji Hoon, Go Min Si will appear in the mysterious drama “Cliffhanger,” which tells the story of people who climb the mysterious and unexplored areas of Mount Jiri in Korea. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, filming was halted between November and December 2020 but has now resumed.
